Happy Hour at One North

Come join the tenants of One North on Wednesday, April 20, for an exciting, collaborative celebration of Design Week Portland!

Located at 3530 N Vancouver Ave., Bonfire Marketing, the CENTER, PATH Architecture, Planet Argon, and Treehouse cordially invite you to join us for a free happy hour kickoff followed by short presentations hosted by each organization. The event is open to the public.

We'll wrap it up with Q-and-A, an open house, more drinks, great music, and general revelry. Beer will be provided by our great sponsors at Omission Beer (http://omissionbeer.com/), and food by our delicious neighbor, Bread & Honey Cafe (http://www.breadandhoneycafe.com/).

Detailed Session Topics

* 4:30 p.m. - Treehouse on "Future Forward Design." Do you consider the long-term effects of your designs on people’s lives and opportunities? A designer’s work continues to live on far beyond a project’s launch. We’ll discuss some case studies that demonstrate designing for change and how designers can improve by being conscious of the future impact of their work.

* 5 p.m. - Bonfire Marketing on "Design Thinking: Optimizing the Value of Design in Marketing." From brainstorm to final deliverable, there are many components to the creative process we don’t normally talk about when we design. Design thinking is the lynchpin that holds a creative project together. In this session, we’ll discuss ways to implement design thinking in order to get the most value and effectiveness from a marketing campaign.

* 5:30 p.m. - Planet Argon on "The Importance of Design in Digital Health Care." Health care applications affect each of us at critical points in our lives. Inefficient designs change how providers work, how patients are treated, and how we all live. In this session, we’ll discuss methods of overcoming redesign hurdles in the health care experience to break through barriers.

* 6 p.m. - PATH Architecture on "Getting to know PATH Architecture." PATH Architecture is an award-winning design firm. Their modern design aesthetic leads the way in shaping the fabric of our communities. PATH believes that when the designer works under one roof with the development company, all collaborators — from architects to builders — come together to produce the best possible results.

* 6:30 p.m. - PLACE Center on "Co-Creating a Center for Youth Engagement Through Community-Centered Design." PLACE shares their mission to join organizational forces and create inclusive opportunities that empower youth to lead positive change in their communities. PLACE is a partnership between Black United Fund of Oregon, Catlin Gabel School, De La Salle North Catholic High School, iUrban Teen, KairosPDX, and Urban League of Portland.
